Nice❤️🔥
Love Margaret, she's the best 💓🎶
thank you for this and keeping music alive
Incredible that these Wimmin have kept trucking right along. Kay and Margaret have never missed a beat, from what I know of these beautiful Wimmin. As a Musician, and 68 yrs now. I remember these older songs. And I play them with respect. Whether Rock, Jazz, Gospel, Gaelic/Celtic, and American Folk, Spanish, kid's tunes. Ima gonna play those bad boys until the end... The Beatles, Stones, Manfred Mann, Johnny, George and Hank, Los Tigres, Los Lobos.... I'm still looking for the magic Intro, middle and coda. If you stop trying to isolate your particular style, you'll suffer. As millions have spent a month. Yet, not learning. The Music World is an open invitation to the new future. Kay and Madge ROCK! Y'all be good out there!
Me too...Reading Chet Baker bio book by Jeroen De Valk
Good episode, I miss this show!
I used yo babysit for a neighbor when I was 11. She had all these lively old songs. I used toput her 'records' on as soon as I got there & would play them nonstop. Some of the best Musica ever!
So sweet! You choose the BEST Musica!
I grew up hearing that Margaret Whiting was my dad (Allen Parmenter). cousin. I never listened to her much. What's funny is her singing voice sounds very much like my mother's.
TWO OF THE BEST EVER ! THANK YOU LADIES !
Jolie version Mme whiting !
She sounds better in a lot of ways compared to her younger years. More strength on the bottom end. More substance. A little more quavier (shakey) on held notes. but still very respectable...
I saw this episode years ago and it stuck with me. For some reason I thought it was on LAW AND ORDER. I’ve searching for it and I was BLESSED TO HAVE FOUND IT TONIGHT❤❤❤❤❤
Watta marvelous voice! There aren't singers around like this anymore.
My musical father's favorite singer was Margaret Whiting. He loved the sound of her voice - and her 'delivery' on all my Mom & Dad's favorite songs. Google to be reminded that Margaret did a late-in-life, 'live' performance of Hoagy Carmichael's best collaboration with Johnny Mercer - IN THE COOL, COOL, COOL OF THE EVENING (a “Best Original Song” Academy Award winner). With my favorite line that John delivered so well (around the 24:14 mark) on his latest '5 o'clock Somewhere' live stream show. “If I ain't in the clink, and there's somethin' to drink, you can tell 'em - I'll be there!” Imagine my delight to find Ms Whiting performing this gem with “The John Pizzarelli Trio” - from John's album with his brother Martin on bass, and pianist Ray Kennedy, for “Too Marvelous for Words: Songs of Johnny Mercer” (1997). Love it when Margaret reaches the line about “your brother jackass” and turns and wags a finger at John's bass player. Thanks for sharing, MyIdealMusic. Im bummed. I thought she was going to have the Audience sing along. 😩
Margaret Whiting performing "Moonlight In Vermont" on The Ed Sullivan Show, June 14, 1970.
I luv her. The feeling in her phrasing is so touching
❤❤❤
The men who wrote this timeless standard don't get enough love. Victor Young wrote the melody, and Ned Washington wrote the words. To Margaret, Victor, and Ned.... Bravo!
Simply great singer from a bygone time. Her voice was impeccable. She didn't have the success in the UK that she so richly deserved. It was our loss.
Mike Renzi ❤️🙏Forever! The best!
Fabulous and magical!!❤❤❤❤
What a treat to see a real vocalist. Thanks for posting.
Moonlight in Vermont! Sing it now Margaret
here we go!!
Purest heart with an outstanding performance that's the man
Is this from "The Bob Hope Show " from Christmas night Friday December 25th, 1953 over NBC radio? I await your answer.
Lifts me off my feet.
What's My Line? with John Daly and the New York sophisticates is still fun to watch lo these many years later. My parents wouldn't let me stay up to watch when it was on CBS because Monday was a f***ing school day. I'll take Bennett Cerf over Soupy Sales any day of the week.
"Moonlight in Vermont" was introduced by Margaret Whiting in a 1944 recording with Billy Butterfield's orchestra when she was about 20 years old. It was her first gold disc recording, having sold over a million copies. The lyrics of this song are unconventional in that they do not rhyme, and each verse (not counting the bridge) is a haiku.
Clooney rocks.
At 73 years old this is my first time. Magical! A big fan from now on. I thought no-one could touch Ella, I was wrong.
I saw her in Milwaukee in four girls four. Met her walking across a bridge and said hello!
Margret whiting/ johnny mercer
Particularmente es la mejor versión sobre las demás.
Look fast at the very end. The audience starts to rise to its feet, a well-deserved standing ovation. But that's cut out.
I’m sorry but your petition is denied!
Lovely. 💕
Wonderful, but the piano is too loud...
A lovely love song performed by an outstanding singer with a great performance,
So glad to hear these great songs performed by this lovely great performer! Sing Hallelujah!
Is that rhe way you see these 4 ladies. You have a better business sense then who represented them!!! Please don't NOT appreciate their individual talents..each a little different but GOD together it's GOLD
Great singing from Margaret Whiting
I just love her. Guilty.
"Broken Hearted Melody" was a popular song written by Hal David and Sherman Edwards. It was recorded by Sarah Vaughan and it became a major hit, reaching No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100 in September 1959 and No. 5 on the R&B charts in October 1959. Sarah Vaughan recorded the song in early 1958, left it for over a year before releasing it around the first of July 1959. It was her first million seller and her first song to receive a Grammy nomination at the Second Annual Grammy Awards for Best Performance By A "Top 40" Artist.
Have seen the Mike Douglas show and loved the Merv clip..but they toured for 3 years..what the hell where's the tonight show?.....they had to be on every show possible during 3 years ..right how the hell is there not a Dinah shore or tonight show clip
Helen O'Connell was the best of the bunch
